About us

National Grid is hiring an Analyst-Specialist in Syracuse NY for our Gas Pipeline Safety & Compliance Department to support the Contractor Operator Qualifications’ Assurance team.

The Operator Qualifications (OQ) program is intended to promote pipeline safety and minimize human error by ensuring qualified and competent personnel can safely perform work tasks and recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions. The NY Public Service Commission issued a rule making in 2022 related to Operator Qualification for the purpose of enhancing pipeline safety. This position will help to provide improved and continuous support of the requirements set forth in the NY ruling to ensure compliance through the NY Contractor OQ Assurance (COQA) program.

Job Purpose

Promote, validate, and foster required competency and compliance related to National Grid’s Gas Pipeline Operator Qualification contractor training and qualification programs.

Key Accountabilities

· Organize, attend, and actively participate in stakeholder meetings and document and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings.

· Assist with the development of presentation materials and conducting presentations to stakeholders as warranted.

· Actively assist team members initially in the execution of team assessments of contractor training sessions.

· Progressively demonstrate independent ability to conduct and execute assessments of contractor training sessions (unassisted).

· Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure their views are managed towards the best solution.

· Undertake basic analytic support duties within team related assignments as required.

· Assist team members in the execution of team assigned projects.

· Actively assist with team database tracking responsibilities.

· Secure knowledge and skill transfer experience required to conduct contractor training assessments independently.

· Assist in the identification of contractor training issues and provide solutions or recommendations for corrective action as applicable.

· Successfully complete gas GFO-related technical training to ensure the fostering of technical knowledge and skills.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • People-orientated person, who is comfortable working with and challenging a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrable experience of applying them in technical and business report writing and the development and delivery of presentations.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree preferred and three or more years of professional experience in a related field. 

· Gas Construction and maintenance experience a plus.

· Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written), and present as required

· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Forms, PowerPoint and Outlook.

· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

· Evidence of strong personal initiative.

· Evidence of personal ability to satisfactorily address difficult situations

· Ability to interact with a diverse group of professional and company personnel.

·Valid Driver's license required

$72k - $85k a year
