Key Accountabilities
- Performing the highest type of independent or cooperative work in accordance with established guidelines.
- This work is associated with all types of construction, applying the theory of operation, maintenance and repair of all electrical and mechanical equipment, circuits and associated facilities found in substations, electric and gas production plants, operating headquarters, peaking units, consumer owned equipment, networks, radial system equipment and other similar equipment and areas of responsibility.
- Must satisfactorily complete all prescribed education and training courses and meet all standard and qualifications.
- Reading, interpreting and applying prints drawings and specifications.
- Setting up, performing, analyzing and interpreting test results.
- Installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing, etc. all types of electrical and mechanical equipment and associated facilities.
- Apply manufacturers and Company instructions for installing, testing, adjusting, maintaining and repairing equipment and associated facilities.
- Diagnose and correct difficulties and faults.
- Working on or near energized circuits or equipment.
- Lay out and carry through job assignments.
- Plan, coordinate and perform work with other departments or divisions.
- Be responsible for and direct work of one subordinate.
- Prepare written reports, drawings and sketches.
- Perform such other comparable or less skilled work or special tests as may be assigned.
- Instruct and train lower grade personnel.
Qualifications
Education/Requirements:
- Make arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages, electrical control circuit knowledge, mechanical skills.
- Successful applicant must demonstrate their ability and willingness to work at heights
- Have a valid NY State Drivers
- High School Diploma or GED
- Be able to pass the DOT Medical and receive a NYS Commercial Drivers license
- Pass a company physical due to the physical nature of the job requirements
- Pass the screening requirement (4 part written and basic wiring project) and physical test requirements (three part requirement -Grounding, Climbing and Operating Man lift device).
Experience: 3 1/2 year's experience with electrical technical courses or related work
Note: In addition to possessing the qualifications for this vacancy, employees selected will be expected to work overtime in accordance with departmental requirements and to participate in the Company Emergency Restoration Program as maybe required. Will be required to successfully complete a skill assessment at the Employee training center prior to transfer. Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug-testing programs prior to selection randomly on a year round basis, after an accident and for reasonable cause

Pay Rate: $36.90 per hour
Location: Northport
