National Grid is hiring a Lead Project Manager, Electricity Capital Project Delivery, This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to our Northboro, MA locations
Job Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated individual to oversee and execute the planning, delivery, management, and governance of our Electric Capital Projects. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring that these projects are developed in a cost-effective and purposeful manner, while also improving long-term project robustness, requirements, costs, and timelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborate with a diverse and expanding team, sharing accountability for the timely delivery of capital infrastructure essential to advancing the goals of a sustainable and green energy future.
- Adaptable work arrangement featuring a hybrid model, offering the flexibility to work remotely. Take advantage of the opportunity to autonomously schedule and balance tasks between fieldwork, home, and office environments.
- Ensure compliance with the Capital Delivery process by overseeing the development and finalization of MSA (Master Service Agreement) and construction contracts. This includes managing preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile, and resource strategy.
- Manage project finances and schedules, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and timelines. Identify and address any deviations promptly, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and optimize project efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with customers to understand their requirements, expectations, and feedback. Foster positive relationships, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate the permitting process by liaising with relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements. Proactively address any permitting challenges or delays to minimize project disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with the Capital Delivery process by overseeing the development and finalization of MSA (Master Service Agreement) and construction contracts. This includes managing preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile, and resource strategy.
- Develop and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, including regular reporting on project progress, risks, and milestones. Foster transparency and engagement, addressing stakeholder inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior Project Managers, fostering their professional growth and development. Share expertise, best practices, and lessons learned to enhance their project management skills and ensure a strong talent pipeline within the organization.
- Continuously assess and enhance project management processes, methodologies, and tools to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and quality throughout the organization. Identify areas for improvement, implement process enhancements, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Demonstrate exceptional personal initiative, integrity, and effective interpersonal skills while fostering positive and collaborative relationships with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred. However, candidates with degrees in other relevant fields, coupled with significant experience in project management, engineering, construction, and operations, will also be considered.
- 5-7 years of experience in engineering, project management, utility construction, or equivalent relevant experience. A Master's degree in an engineering discipline, MBA, or equivalent qualification is desirable.
