Key Accountabilities

  • Perform all duties of all lower classifications: refer to Automotive/Truck Technician 3rd class duties
  • Perform all brake related services and repairs; must become a qualified air brake inspector.
  • Successfully perform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform damage or wear assessment to determine a replace or repair activity.
  • Perform simple fabrication and electric and gas welding.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have been an Automotive/Truck Technician 3rd Class with positive performance reviews for the last twelve months.
  • Must meet all the qualifications of the Automotive/Truck 3rd class
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • If hired from the outside, must have passed the Field Assessment test and the department written and practical test.
  • Must hold the following ASE certificates within two years of holding this classification: T-2 Diesel; T-4 Air Brakes; and T-8 Preventive Maintenance Inspection.
  • Must hold a valid CDL-A license (interstate travel, unrestricted tractor trailer) with all appropriate endorsements and without restrictions; must hold the health certificate.
  • Must hold all appropriate state safety and environmental vehicle inspection licenses.

Must possess a working knowledge of FleetAnywhere, or an equivalent vehicle maintenance program
