National Grid is hiring a Construction Supervisor for our Complex Construction Department. This position covers the Downstate NY Region with work zones from Staten Island to Montauk Point. *(Main locations at this point include Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens territory)

Job Purpose
Oversee and support the construction process in the field following the construction policies and procedures while maintaining a strong focus on workplace safety, through field inspection. Supervise a workforce that may work overtime hours (day/night). Must be available for standby assignments on a rotational basis, and respond to emergencies to ensure public safety. May also need to work outside assigned jurisdictional region to provide support of the overall workload. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with all Company, federal, state, and local municipality regulations & guidelines, safety requirements, and Operator Qualifications. Review and complete daily reporting to ensure all work performed is in accordance with the work package, System Operating Procedures, work orders, construction sketches, Operator Qualifications of the crew, contractor onboarding, etc. Attend & participate in all field meetings including pre-construction meetings, safety meetings, and all daily job briefs. Report directly to the job site on a daily basis to perform your Supervisor/Oversight functions. You will have minimal involvement in office visits.
Engage with stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure effective communication across appropriate teams.
Key Accountabilities
⦁ Collaborate with wide range of diverse teams across industry, including contractors and bargaining units as well as government & local municipality officials
⦁ Knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, local, and company safety & environmental rules and regulations & systems used in the Natural Gas Industry
⦁ Knowledge and ability to drive within New York City is required.
⦁ Must be comfortable calling safety stops, leading stand downs, and speaking in front of large groups of contractor employees.
⦁ Thorough knowledge of Company policies and procedures, and technical competence to prudently apply these to support construction operations
⦁ Extensive knowledge of the gas transmission and distribution system, engineering, construction & maintenance practices, gas utilization equipment, gas metering, and the electric distribution system; Federal, State, and Municipal Codes, Company standards and procedures as well as computer operations are essential.
Qualifications
⦁ A bachelor’s degree in engineering/related area and/or equivalent work-related experience
⦁ 4 years of relevant experience in areas of utility operations, utility construction & operations or similar industry.
⦁ Committed to ‘on the job’ training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to certification requirements with NGA/C Gas Operator Qualifications
⦁ Requires knowledge of Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint. SAP and Adobe/Bluebeam experience is a plus.
⦁ Understands procedures & standards and demonstrates the ability to provide directions with clear reason and rationale.
⦁ Strong oral and written communications skills are required.
⦁ Maintains a non-restricted State issued driver’s license.
⦁ Able to travel throughout service territories and willing to work extended hours when the job requires. That might include, but is not limited to, system emergencies. Driving to other company locations, including Upstate NY and New England, for various meetings and training.
⦁ API 1169 certification desirable.
Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.

Salary
$140,000 - $165,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
