Job Purpose
The New York Gas Complex Capital Construction Project Management Office (PMO) plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of our capital projects, particularly in the area of risk management. This includes proactively managing the risk process, developing and maintaining detailed risk and opportunity registers, conducting risk modeling, utilizing Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA) and Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) techniques, and overseeing contingency management.
The ideal candidate will have experience with risk management of large construction projects and programs. In addition, the interpersonal and leadership skills to help develop the new risk management process but also create strong relationships with the project teams.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk management strategies, frameworks, and tools.
- Facilitate regular risk identification and assessment sessions with project teams and stakeholders.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, including cost and schedule risk assessments (QCRA + QSRA), to inform program and cost forecasting.
- Work closely with project managers and schedulers to provide risk inputs into schedule and cost contingency modelling.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop risk mitigation plans and monitor risk triggers.
- Ensure risk-related decisions are documented and appropriately escalated.
- Develop and maintain the program-level risk register and ensure all risk-related documentation is up to date and accessible.
- Collaborate with functional team leads to identify and resolve cross-functional issues and risks.
- Utilize risk management software to facilitate program and portfolio risk management.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement in risk practices across the organization.
- Provide guidance and coaching to project team members on risk management processes and best practices.
- Bring creative and innovative new approaches to risk management in a way that delivers lasting improvements.
- Generate regular risk reports for senior management, steering committees, and external stakeholders.
- Work with US Risk Assurance team to support development and compliance of business-level controls.
- Manage NY Gas Major Capital Projects enterprise risk. Work with cross-functional leadership teams to evaluate the risk, key risk indicators (KRIs), and controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in developing or implementing risk management activity on high-value programs / portfolios: >$200M
- Knowledge and experience of project, program, and portfolio risk management practices and the communication of risk and opportunity data through effective reporting tools.
- Experience using a range of risk management digital tools and their successful application.
- Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

$126,000 - $148,000 Syracuse, NY
$151,000 - $178,000 Melville, NY
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
