Job Purpose

 

 

 

As a Pressure Regulation Asset Engineer, you will support the Gas Asset Engineering team in maintaining a safe, reliable, and efficient gas distribution system focusing on pressure regulation stations and station heaters, ensuring optimal asset performance and return on investment through effective project execution and technical oversight.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

 

  • Support the planning, design, and execution of capital projects related to pressure regulation equipment across Downstate New York (DNY).
  • Ensure project documentation meets traceable, verifiable, and complete (TVC) standards.
  • Assist in interpreting Certified Material Testing Reports (CMTRs) and validating pipeline materials for safe operation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and inspectors to review welding and non-destructive examination (NDE) records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in pressure testing and document results to confirm system integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare documentation packages for gas-in approvals and asset commissioning.
  • Review as-built drawings and verify alignment with material and weld records.
  • Conduct field investigations and document findings related to asset anomalies or damage.
  • Contribute to the development of project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules for both planned and emergent work.
  • Support Process Safety initiatives by participating in Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) activities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and compliant project delivery.

 

Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering or technical role.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles, technical analysis, and solution development.
  • Experience with financial tracking tools such as Maximo, PowerPlan, and Copperleaf.
  • Understanding of regulatory and safety standards impacting gas pressure regulation and pipeline safety management.
  • Proven ability to anticipate challenges, think strategically, and develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with gas distribution network safety policies and process safety principles.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Downstate NY Salary: $109,000 - $128,000 a year

 

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
