Job Purpose
The Supervisor, Electric Meter & Labs provides technical and operational leadership for National Grid's Electric Meter Lab (NY). The Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of electric meter testing to ensure accuracy, compliance and reliability of all metering equipment. This role provides leadership to ensure all safety, quality and productivity standards are met. Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for company compliance with applicable national standards and regulatory requirements for New York State.
Key Accountabilities
- Union oversight of the NY Meter and related budget.
- Ensure safe working environment and practices for employees.
- Ensure scheduling and completion of required training for union personnel.
- Ensure timely filing of Meter Lab related regulatory requirements (NY).
- Timely fulfillment of all meter and equipment requests.
- Ensure accurate electric metering products for our customers.
- Establish and sustain tracking mechanisms to manage operational performance; identify and lead process improvement initiatives.
- Understand, update and implement standard working processes for tasks throughout the lab.
- Proactively work with vendors to establish compliance of purchasing contracts for timely delivery and product quality.
- Coordinate annual budget with the asset manager to account for budget changes within the fiscal year.
- Share best practice ideas and information with other initiative owners to ensure consistency, maximize information benefit and support cross-process efficiency.
- Provide technical expertise to organizational Contract Management efforts (team manages electric meter supplier network).
- Support shaping the energy and climate change agenda with our internal and external stakeholders in all regions.
- Ensure continued administration and management of company Meter Information Tracking System.
- Build trust, transparency and an inclusive and engaged workforce.
- This position may also provide support for the NE Electric Meter Lab as required.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Manage business, vendor and consultant contracts and relationships in order to ensure everyone is informed and aware of change.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with various departments to facilitate and support any dependencies in work processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from ABET Accredited institution.
- Experience managing represented personnel preferred.
- A solid understanding Utility industry preferably in electric operations.
- Knowledge of inventory management practices.
- Knowledge of process improvement tools and techniques.
- A solid understanding of the legal / regulatory / corporate governance requirements, strategy and objectives of issues impacting the utility industry.
- Demonstrated the ability to develop effective business relationships and partnerships with others and seeks to understand and challenge plans and opportunities to the benefit of all parties.

Salary: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 USD
