National Grid is hiring Senior Contract Officers for our Infrastructure Delivery team based in Warwick, Leeds and Sheffield.

About the role

 

As a Senior Contract Officer you will be supporting the Commercial Manager with the contractual interface for Contractors within National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET). You will be responsible for the provision of a holistic contract management service, owning the regular interaction with the contractors at a portfolio level, aggregating project issues to challenge contractor performance in all areas of delivery.

 

You will establish, implement and manage the KPI’s for the regional partners, analysing contractor performance and using insights to ensure contract compliance, driving continuous improvements and work collaboratively with the Contractors and National Grid to achieve the safe and cost-effective delivery of the capital plan.

 

We would expect you to apply insights from both an in-depth knowledge of a Contractors portfolio performance and proactively working with other business functions to monitor external market conditions to support, recommend and implement where appropriate commercial decisions

What you'll do

 

  • Lead the Contract Officer function, fostering collaboration and driving consistency in Contractor relationships
  • Support management to ensure commercial, contract and financial processes and procedures are adhered to, and contract compliance through effective contract management activities
  • Accountable for ensuring supplier engagement is consistent and standardized where appropriate and contractor compliance is maintained
  • Proactively work with other business functions to monitor internal and external market conditions, recommending and implementing, where appropriate Contractor management strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Drive the development and implementation of appropriate reporting structure to capture all elements of contractor performance and ensure consistency of reporting of these across the contract function, leveraging key stakeholder relationships to lead this roll-out.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to further develop the suite of benchmarking tools to support the continuous improvement of contractor performance
  • Provide portfolio-level supplier management support, insights and advice to Project Delivery teams as required.
  • Identify and lead on contract management improvement initiatives.

What you'll need

 

  • Demonstratable experience of working with NEC terms and conditions (or equivalent)
  • Strong commercial acumen, including procurement and supply chain experience / knowledge preferred
  • Demonstrable experience of Contractor management
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams
  • Experience of working in Contract Management role and / or working with NEC terms and conditions
  • Experience interfacing with multiple business functions and leveraging value through these relationships
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to convey key messages to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills and experience
  • Sound knowledge of preferred National Grid systems, including COUPA and Power BI for analysis of contractual performance information from a variety of sources, including KPIs

Annual salary of £55,000.00 and £65,000.00 per annum dependent on experience
