National Grid is hiring a Net Zero Innovation Manager for our Customer and Network Development Team based in Warwick. 

About the role

 

Here at National Grid, we are almost doubling our innovation activity as we have recently secured more funding to help to test new ideas to get to Net Zero. As a result of our increase in innovation activity we are looking for a Net Zero Innovation Manager to lead and guide a team of Innovation Engineers to facilitate the end-to-end delivery and implementation of our innovation plans. 

 

In this role you will ensure we are prioritising the right projects and focussing on how we deploy these to our network, keeping a close eye on the cost benefit, deploy-ability and the overarching National Grid strategy when it comes to Innovation. 

 

You will also have the opportunity to build your team, ensuring as a function we have the best people ideating, developing, delivering and implementing innovation projects. As the Manager of this team, you will be comfortable communicating about our projects internally and externally, attending conferences and internal meetings. 

What you'll do

 

  • Manage a team of Innovation Engineers, ensuring we are priotising the right projects to deploy to our network 
  • Provide oversight of delivery of innovation projects 
  • Management of innovation projects to align with our innovation strategy 
  • Oversight of implementation of innovations into business as usual activities 
  • Management of regulatory allowances and budgets for innovation 
  • Regulatory and industry reporting on innovation activities 
  • Expand and build your Innovation Team through recruitment 

About you

 

  • Significant experience in working in an innovation environment and ideating, developing, delivering and implementing innovation projects 
  • Experience mentoring and coaching people to think creatively and performance research and development activities in a technology driven environment 
  • Strong internal and external Stakeholder Management experience 
  • Skilled in writing successful funding/investment business cases 
  • Project and portfolio management skills 
  • Ideally knowledge of Electricity Transmission network and its assets 
  • Excellent understanding of internal and external innovation practice and organisations 
  • Ability to think laterally and see the wider perspective based on a solid foundation of science, facts and data 
  • Understanding of technical, commercial and legal aspects around innovation

£66,000 - £75,000 dependant on experience
