National Grid is hiring an Interconnectors Head of IT & Digital.  This is a hybrid role that can be based out of the Warwick, UK or London, UK office.

Job Purpose

The Interconnectors Head of IT&D is responsible for the provision of all information and digital technology, products, projects and platforms for all Interconnector businesses in the UK including service, delivery, innovation and cybersecurity. The role will understand the different business value streams, opportunities afforded by the business imperatives, influence the business strategies and create and deliver the digital and technology strategies for these businesses; proactively shaping complex proposals and gaining consensus across all Interconnector businesses where needed to deliver IT and digital services, change and innovation.

 

Most importantly, the role brings an extremely high level of credibility, which will raise the perception, and value-add, of digital technology within the Interconnector businesses, NGV and beyond.

 

As a member of the BU Technology Leadership Team, the role will shape and motivate the Interconnector businesses to deliver the highest levels of excellence, quickly assess capability gaps and create robust delivery functions that are able to meet and even exceed the breadth of business requirements and transformation. The team must be deeply customer centric, delivery focused, ROI and outcome-driven, confident, collaborative, and able to work closely with the business independently to deliver business outcomes.

 

A credible presence in and out of the business executives, able to influence strategic direction and partner with the businesses to deliver digital transformation, reimagining the business and work, agile, iterative delivery harnessing innovative digital, data, AI and technology capabilities. This role is a member of the Interconnectors Executive Committees and must be an effective business leader and executive as well as an IT & Digital leader. Willing to get into the details of what needs to be done while also being able to operate and communicate at a strategic level. Where relevant this role must be able to operate with the Interconnectors board(s).

  • Business process improvement (BPRE), Creating new and potentially disruptive approaches to performing business activities. (L7)
  • Organisational capability development (OCDV), Providing leadership, advice and implementation support to assess organisational capabilities and to identify, prioritise and implement improvements. (L6)

About you

 

  • Extensive experience in a senior digital leadership role, relevant to the scale of the Interconnector businesses
  • Demonstrated ability to set and execute digital strategies that drive business growth and innovation.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of emerging digital technologies and their potential impact on the organisation.
  • Relevant academic qualifications in information technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • This role requires a visionary leader capable of setting strategic direction, inspiring the organisation, and mobilising resources to effectively integrate information and technology strategies that support the organisation's mission and objectives.
  • Can successfully operate at ‘C’ and Board level, forming strong relationships and engagement as needed across all levels of the Interconnectors
  • Has good leadership, relationship, communication and presentation skills combined with a good track record of delivering digital and transformation.
  • Experience of IT strategic, investment, product, project, service and platform delivery and planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities
  • Experience of working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results
  • A good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business outcomes and results
  • Degree-level qualification, preferably in an analytical or business-oriented discipline like information systems or industrial engineering, alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training.

What you'll get

A competitive salary of up to £77,0000 to £93,0000 – dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 20% (with a maximum of 40%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
