National Grid is hiring a Group Head of SHW - Policy and Reporting. This position can be based at NG House, Warwick.
About The Role
Are you ready to take on a pivotal management role within the Group Safety, Health, and Wellbeing (SHW) team? As the Group SHW Policy and Reporting Manager, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that National Grid's SHW standards meet regulatory requirements and are effectively implemented across the organisation.
In this dynamic position, you will lead the charge by assessing and implementing SHW standards while accurately collecting, analysing, and reporting on Safety, Health, and Wellbeing risks and incidents. You will create a comprehensive profile of risks across National Grid’s business areas, providing in-depth analysis of SHW performance.
Collaboration is key, as you will work with the Group SHW management team to establish performance metrics and report content, delivering insights on a monthly, annual, or ad-hoc basis. Your critical SHW data will inform the Chief SHW Officer, ensuring risks are managed effectively with the right resources.
You will also guarantee that all serious incidents are reported to the relevant external authorities within prescribed timelines, while maintaining a consistent approach to the review and implementation of SHW policies and standards across the National Grid group.
Finally, you will oversee the tone, look, and feel of all SHW documents, ensuring a professional and unified representation of the Group SHW team.

What You'll Do
- Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create and manage the National Grid SHW Management System documentation, ensuring compliance with UK and US legislation.
- Certification Management: Maintain Group SHW certification where required to meet ISO and OHSAS requirements , demonstrating the effectiveness of our SHW Management System
- Incident Reporting: Oversee reporting and recording systems for all SHW incidents, supporting regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in performance.
- Annual Reviews: Lead the annual management review process, providing insights to the SHE Committee and Chief SHW Officer.
- Trusted Partner: Act as a reliable partner within the Group SHW Team and across National Grid, ensuring high-quality communication with all stakeholders.
- Policy and Reporting: Manage SHW policy consultations and revisions, delivering accurate reports that inform strategic decisions. The Group SHW Policy and Reporting Manager will assist the Chief SHW Officer in preparing and analysing NG Group's SHW performance, identifying gaps, inconsistent performance, and areas needing attention.
- External Representation: Represent National Grid at external stakeholder forums, advocating for our SHW interests.

About You
SHW Expertise:
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, dynamic industry with a strong focus on Safety, Health, and Wellbeing.
- Proven track record in developing, implementing, and managing SHW policies and procedures.
- Strong project management skills related to SHW initiatives and executive-level data reporting.
Analytical Skills:
- Expertise in business analysis to assess SHW performance and drive continuous improvement.
Leadership and Teamwork:
- Act as a role model to foster effective teamwork and collaboration
- Proactively engage with peers to build strong leadership teams focused on safety and wellbeing
Problem Solving and Innovation:
- Facilitate and support creative solutions
- Create an environment that encourages high performance and innovation
Influencing and Communication:
- Use a wide range of techniques to effect change in SHW practices at all levels of the organisation.
- Engage and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels
- Demonstrate first-class interpersonal skills with a natural flair for building relationships
What You'll Get
- Competitive Salary: circa £74,000 – £95,000 per annum (dependent on location, capability, and experience)

- Bonus: On traget 20% with a stretch target of 40%

We are also offering hybrid /flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need. Base location for this role will be NG House, Warwick
