We’re looking a dedicated and skilled Employment Tax Specialist to work alongside our Senior Indirect Tax Manager to manage compliance, assurance, and advisory work related to employment tax and our global assignee programme. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You’ll Do:
- Business Partnering: Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business, embodying National Grid's values.
- Off-Payroll Worker Assessment: Oversee the assessment process and conduct status evaluations.
- UK Employment Tax Compliance: Manage the annual compliance cycle, including PAYE Settlement Agreements, Taxed Award Schemes, and Short-Term Business Visitor returns.
- Director Emolument Management: Provide employment tax input into the Director Emolument and CEO Pay Ratio processes.
- Expatriate Tax Management: Handle tax payments and reconciliations for National Grid expatriates.
- Risk Mitigation: Work with the Senior Indirect Tax Manager to identify and mitigate employment tax risks, ensuring robust internal assurance programmes.
- Legislative Monitoring: Stay updated on changes to employment and expatriate tax legislation, assessing impacts and communicating updates to stakeholders.
- Compliance Support: Assist with employment tax compliance and advisory matters for the UK group’s employees.
- Expatriate Programme Management: Collaborate with the Senior Indirect Tax Manager and Tax Data Manager to manage the expatriate programme with our external Tax Advisor.
- Technical Advice: Provide ad-hoc technical advice on PAYE, NIC, and other employment taxes across all UK businesses.
What You’ll Have:
- Qualified Tax Professional
- Familiarity with employment tax is essential; awareness of expatriate tax is a plus.
- Comfortable handling and manipulating large volumes of data is crucial. Familiarity with automated workflow methodologies (e.g., Alteryx) is desirable, but training can be provided.
- Strong stakeholder management / business partnering with both internal and external stakeholders

What You’ll Get:
A competitive salary of up to £75,000 dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with an on target of 15% (maximum 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
