National Grid is hiring an Asset Data Assistant as well as an Asset Data Officer - This is based from Warwick with a hybrid working policy - x2 days a week in office.
Job Purpose
To create, manage, maintain & control the asset, geospatial and work management data and information to ensure that all 250,000 assets that exist on the Electricity Transmission system are correctly registered and recognised in the regulated asset value.
To manage the update of the Electricity Asset Register ensuring that the financial records are correctly attributed to the recorded assets, to enable accurate unit costs to be derived which underpin future cost targeting.
What you'll do
- Manage accurate asset records and scripts within ET’s core asset, geospatial and work management systems, throughout the asset lifecycle
- Develop, implement strategies, policies, procedures and specifications associated with the production, retention and management of asset records, to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the creation of value cases to support ET’s evolving asset management approach to meet the requirements of our price controls
- Establish and develop monitoring and reporting processes on asset data lifecycle performance
- Develop improved data collection processes and identify systems improvements for handling ET asset information to be used across all business streams including technical data, training and documentation requirements

About you
- Interpersonal and Management Skills: Proven ability to foster effective teamwork and build relationships across various levels of the organisation.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of the assets that comprise the Electricity Transmission system and their interrelationships.
- Familiarity with ET policy and procedure frameworks, including Asset and Work Management processes.
- Experience in data management, analysis, and reporting, particularly in asset management.
- Proficient in querying databases and advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel (including VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting, pivot tables, and graph creation). Knowledge of Power BI is a bonus.
- Analytical Skills: Experience working with large datasets, typically in the range of hundreds of thousands, with a focus on reporting and data presentation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data findings clearly and interact regularly with stakeholders across Asset Operations.
- Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of fixed asset accounting principles and compliance requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley.

A competitive salary around £40,000 - £45,000 – dependent on capability
