National Grid is hiring a Technical Training Business Partner to lead an experienced training team dedicated to National Grid’s Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business, deepening capability and proficiency in the critical skills within major project delivery. The role will act as a strategic link between SI and Group Technical Training.
Within the role, you will partner closely with all areas of SI, identifying the technical and vocational training requirements and manage the delivery of innovative learning solutions.
This role will require travel across the UK as required by business stakeholder engagements. The role attracts a company car.
What you'll do
- Serve as the primary liaison between Group Technical Training and SI.
- Consult with senior business leaders and technical experts to identify skill gaps, emerging technologies, and capability requirements.
- Enable an agile response to the business learning needs, improving effectiveness and continuing to develop new interventions.
- Develop and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, procedures, and work standards for the team.
- Establish and interrogate metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Ongoing communication with the Process & Planning team to ensure requirements of demand plans are actively managed to enable effective resource management and quality delivery.
- Identify additional learning investments to support overall customer business strategy and determine associated costs and develop business cases.
- Represent National Grid at appropriate external forums, e.g., Energy Utility Skills, Professional Institutions, Contract Partner Events, awarding bodies and government agencies.
What you'll need
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership and team management capabilities
- Demonstrate outstanding stakeholder and customer management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Extensive understanding of the UK Electricity transmission network with a minimum of 5 years experiencing working in engineering or marine sectors.
- Strong technical background in one of the following disciplines: HVDC, power system engineering, subsea cable installation, offshore operations - desirable
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or other suitable qualifications and experience.
- Full UK driving license.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £70,000 - £85,000 per annum dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
