1 x Technical Land Specialist – Staff Grade Role
You’ll be part of the team of 7 responsible overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and governance of land-related policies, procedures, and technical standards. The position plays a critical role in risk management, stakeholder engagement, and the continuous improvement of land strategies to support the company’s operational goals. The role supports a technical business partner in supporting the Electricity Transmission /Strategic Infrastructure New Infrastructure Land Team.
1 x Technical Land Manager – Management Grade Role
As Technical Land Manager at National Grid is part of the team responsible overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and governance of land-related policies, procedures, and technical standards. The position plays a critical role in risk management, stakeholder engagement, and the continuous improvement of land strategies to support the company’s operational goals. The role acts as a technical business partner to the existing Infrastructure Land Team and is a leadership role in the business requiring additional leadership and delivery experience.
These roles are hybrid with team members across the UK from London to Northern England. The role duties are mostly home based with occasional meetings in main office hubs such as Birmingham or London. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

For both roles you’ll have a good technical understanding, knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory parameters that TOs work within, including the range of statutory powers available, understanding how these then relate to the relevant project strategy and approach.
You’ll have excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to ensure effective engagement with all relevant stakeholders (internally and externally).
You’ll also have experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (engineering, legal, consenting) to support overall project delivery and the ability to work to tight deadlines in complex delivery environments.
For our manager role, you’ll additionally be looking to step up into or already be in a leadership position, drawing on your lands expertise, with additional focus on demonstrable leadership and successful delivery. This role will not manage people initially, but you may be tasked with growing your own reports in the near future.

What You'll Do
Technical Leadership & Governance
- You’ll support with the development and implementation of land-related policies, procedures, and technical standards to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
- Providing guidance on complex land, property, and wayleave matters you’ll support/lead infrastructure projects and operational activities.
- Supporting on establishment and maintenance of robust governance frameworks in order to manage land rights, acquisitions, disposals, and consents effectively.
Regulatory & Compliance Management
- Ensuring National Grid Infrastructure adheres to all relevant land and property regulations, including environmental, planning, and statutory obligations.
- Supporting contact with regulatory bodies you will ensure best practices are followed in land management and governance in relation to existing infrastructure.
Stakeholder & External Engagement
- Supporting/leading on relationships with government agencies, national stakeholders, landowners, legal teams, and other key stakeholders, you’ll facilitate land negotiations and approvals.
- Supporting the Infrastructure land team by providing strategic land-related insights and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
Strategic Land Management & Acquisition
- Overseeing the strategic planning of the execution of land acquisitions, easements, wayleaves, and leases in order to support National Grid’s infrastructure projects.
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement in land acquisition and governance processes you work will enhance cost-effectiveness and drive efficiency.
What You'll Get
Technical Land Specialist
A competitive starting salary between £48,000 – £61,000 dependent on capability and £3,000 non performance based supplement.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
Technical Land Manager
A competitive starting salary between £62,000 – £75,000 dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
