Grain LNG is a division of National Grid plc. It operates outside of National Grid’s core regulated businesses in the UK where it operates Europe’s largest LNG importation terminal. As the business is in the process of being sold, the key tasks of running under TSA and subsequently setting up the business as a standalone operation will be critical in the upcoming 18 months.
This is a critical, exciting and strategic role in a growth business with a significant transformation agenda and will play a substantial part in supporting the energy transition for all.
We are currently recruiting for an IT Manager onsite at Grain who will be responsible for overseeing the IT operations and ensuring the alignment of IT strategies with the overall business objectives.
As an IT Manager you will be managing a team of IT professionals, developing IT policies, and ensuring the effective delivery of IT services to internal and external stakeholders. You will oversee operations, and drive improvements in service, security, and scalability, leading the IT function across infrastructure, service delivery, and security
The role is based on site at LNG Grain and due to the location you will need to be able to drive there and must have a full clean licence. There may be occasional travel to different sites required.
What you'll do
- Develop and implement long-term IT strategies and operational plans in alignment with the company's business goals.
- Collaborate with senior management to ensure IT initiatives support business objectives.
- Oversee the delivery of IT services, ensuring they meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage the IT service portfolio, including service transitions and retirements.
- Ensuring high availability, performance, and cybersecurity of systems
- Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
- Oversee IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate with the IT project manager and various stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure project alignment with business needs.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Manage risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business units and external partners
- Act as a liaison between IT and other departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Monitor IT expenditures and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in IT service management.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong experience of leading IT functions with attention to detail in the delivery of IT services and solutions.
- Agile methodology and project management experience of large-scale delivery.
- Previously been a Head of IT in a similar sized or larger organisation. A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management.
- Worked alongside a 3rd party IT outsourcer and pro-actively managing the supplier relationship.
- Ability to process capture methodologies and business analysis.
- Plan for disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Managing a budget, with a focus on cost reduction.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL), and project management methodologies.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £70,000 - £80,000 per annum – dependent on capability.
