About the role

As a Regional Quality Lead at National Grid, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Onshore Quality Manager and the Regional Portfolio Directors to ensure the highest standard of quality across our Onshore Strategic Infrastructure Projects. You are responsible for implementing Onshore’s Quality Management Systems that ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, ISO 90001, and National Grid’s standards. You will also assist in the reporting and auditing of our internal projects, our Partner’s Work Packages and contractors to ensure they are in compliance with contractual requirements, industry standards regulatory requirements and

 

National Grid’s policies and procedures. This role requires a proactive Quality expert who can ensure quality is at the forefront of our projects mind in a programme landscape with challenging schedules, deliverables and interdependencies.

 

This role is on Hyrbrid basis, with travel to East of England when required.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Project Management or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in Quality Management (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within the construction Project from development to delivery, experience of the Transmission and Distribution or Energy industry is a plus.
  • Proven track record of implementing Quality Management Systems (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.
  • Experience in conducting audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and contractual requirement

Technical Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of Quality Management principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to onshore strategic infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes, including root cause, cost of poor quality analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • A good understanding of CDM Regulations and NEC Contractual Requirements, specifically in relation to Client, Principal Designer & Principal Contractor role
  • An understanding of different contractual relationships within experience in an enterprise way of work is a plus

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for reporting quality performance and trends to stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, contractors, and suppliers.

Proficiency in Tools and Software:

  • Experience with quality management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for documentation and presentations.

Leadership and Management:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead quality initiatives and drive a culture of quality within teams.
  • Experience in training and mentoring staff on quality standards and practices.
  • Ability to lead a team of up to 5 Project Quality Advisor who will be working in a specified region ensuring alignment and collaboration.

What you'll do

 

 

  • Experience of Establishing EVM and Cost Capture processes and systems.
  • Proven track record of establishing appropriate methods of Assurance of the EV and Cost Data
  • A thorough understanding of EVM tools and techniques.
  • Validate the Planned Value build up for each project, and subsequently validate the Earned Value Figures in a timely manner to support the CL32 programme updates.
  • Experienced user of the Primavera suite of Project Management tools. (P6)
  • Experienced user of MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to problem solving, with good attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.
  • Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity of the NEC3/4 Commercial Framework.
  • Experience of managing a wide group of stakeholders & effective communication skills with all levels of management
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully working in a matrix and integrated teams
  • Ability to bring creative and innovative new approaches to projects, programmes or a business that deliver lasting improvements. 
  • The ability to develop and mentor new and existing colleagues.

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary between £54,000 - £60,000 – dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
