About the role
Great Britain's electricity infrastructure is undergoing an ambitious, exciting and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come.
National Grid has launched the Great Grid Upgrade Partnership, an opportunity for supply chain partners to help National Grid deliver the largest overhaul of the electricity grid in generations.
Our new Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit has been set up to deliver several new major projects, working collaboratively with selected Design & Consenting and Construction partners to design and deliver a multi-billion network construction by 2030.
The Onshore Programme Management Office (PMO) has a significant role to play in supporting delivery of these projects, including the planning team through the robust development and upkeep of sufficiently detailed project schedules but also the broader programme schedule for Onshore.
We are moving to a programmatic delivery approach and an enterprise based collaborative contracting model. It is anticipated that the programme will include projects delivered through conventional scope-based contracts and schemes delivered through the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) delivery model.
The Project Controls and Earned Value Manager will support the Head of Planning focusing on making sure the EV metrics are as robust as possible, this will involve adopting the right processes and systems and nurturing the team with the aim of building a high class EVM capability. The role will also focus on ensuring that the Cost Control processes are further developed and adhered to. Principally they will engage with the Regional Planning Mangers and Design Partners and the Integrator to ensure that there is a joined-up approach to EV & Cost Management, taking ownership of the works described in the Cost Control Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and making sure that the GGP Partner programmes are aligned with the SOP.
