We’re looking for a passionate Finance Business Partner – Major Projects to join the Management Accounting function based within the Southwest and Wales areas. In this role you will support the Major Projects and Primary System Design (MP & PSD) functions who are responsible for the design and delivery of the capital investment programme, programme across the High voltage (33kv and 132kV) distribution network.

 

This role is based out of our Cardiff office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. The role will require a reasonable amount of travel to locations across South Wales and the Southwest to provide local support to the engineering function.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with 2 x HoD (South Wales & Southwest) in the effectively delivery of the capital programme c£200m
  • Act as a trusted advisor to operational leadership, challenging assumptions and supporting value-driven decisions.
  • Develop and maintain the relevant management information to provide insight on performance across the 2 areas, including the preparation & maintenance of base models linking operational plans to financial plans so that variance analysis may be delivered.
  • Develop and enhance forecasting models to monitor the trajectory of the capital programme and identify emerging trends.
  • Facilitate the preparation of the annual budget for Major Project in the Southwest and South Wales licence areas.
  • Proactively engage the project managers in the 2 area to identify project exceptions & issues that need to be addressed, developing actions and holding the business to account.
  • Work closely with members of the Finance team to identify and understand issues around unit costs and margin reporting, providing commentary where needed.

What You'll Have:

  • Qualified or near Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with strong knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Proven track record of Finance Business Partnering, ideally within a similar industry.
  • Extensive experience overseeing the financial position of a business unit, working with director level to set strategy and deliver against a medium-term plan.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel and MS office. 
  • Knowledge of general ledger and supporting systems, purchase ledger, sales ledger and time recording systems.
  • Experience of dashboard reporting and Hyperion Planning applications.
  • Full clean driving licence and a willingness to travel.
  • Proven ability to adapt style of financial information presentation to suit a range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial. 
  • Strong planning, forecasting and budgeting experience.

What You'll Get:

Up to £57,000– dependent on capability.


 
As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
