About the role

 

Keeping Safety and Quality at the Heart of Our Electricity Network

 

 

We’re looking for a Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ ) Assurance Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of utility infrastructure. In this role, you’ll be responsible for assuring the on-site safety and quality of multi-million-pound Overhead Line (OHL) construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring our work meets the highest standards across a range of dynamic and challenging environments. We’re flexible on your base location in the east of England.

 

No two days are the same. You’ll be travelling to a variety of OHL sites across the east of England (Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Kent), working alongside project teams and key stakeholders to ensure everything from tools and PPE to site demarcation and lifting equipment meets safety and compliance standards. While on site, you’ll review construction packs and ensure installations match manufacturer specifications, maintaining a proactive presence that helps our teams stay on track and in line with company procedures.

 

This role goes beyond inspections. You’ll support the SHESQ Manager by investigating incidents and near misses, identifying trends through data analysis, and compiling reports that inform and improve future performance. You’ll also play a vital role in communicating learning outcomes to site teams, responding to on-the-ground needs, and collaborating with other SHEQ Assurance Engineers to drive continuous improvement.

About you

  • NVQ L3 or ONC engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience of on-site SHEQ assurance activities.
  • Experience of QMS – Quality Management Systems.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

 

It would be a bonus if you have qualifiations such as;

 

  • NEBOSH / IOSH / SMSTS.

What you will get

 

A competitive salary between £47,442 to £57,000 dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
