National Grid is hiring for a Product Owner     - This position can be based from our London or Warwick office Hybrid Working model.

Job Purpose

 

We are seeking an agile-minded and results-driven Product Owner to join our Innovation, Development, and Delivery (NOI) team at National Grid. In this pivotal role, the Product Owner will lead the agile development and implementation of innovative products that shape the future of energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with extensive knowledge of the energy sector and exceptional expertise in agile methodologies. As we undergo a significant transformation, experience in agile working and specialisation in product development will be essential to drive our initiatives forward. 

About you

 

Product Strategy and Vision:

 

      • Develop and advocate for a clear product vision and strategy aligned with National Grid's strategic objectives and agile principles.
      • Identify and assess market opportunities and customer needs to guide product development and backlog prioritization.
      • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine the product roadmap.

 

 

Product Development and Management:

 

      • Work with cross-functional, agile teams to deliver high-quality products incrementally, ensuring alignment with the product vision and timelines.
      • Translate the product vision into detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for the agile development team.
      • Oversee the product lifecycle, from ideation to incremental deliveries and post-launch evaluation.
      • Ensure products meet evolving market demands and regulatory requirements through continuous feedback.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

 

      • Serve as the liaison between the NOI team, senior management, and external stakeholders, fostering transparent communication.
      • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on product progress, performance, and sprint outcomes.
      • Gather and incorporate feedback from customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to improve products and processes.

 

Team Collaboration:

 

      • Foster a collaborative and innovative agile work environment.
      • Encourage professional growth and development within the team through continuous learning and agile practices.
      • Promote a culture of accountability, flexibility, and continuous improvement.

About you

 

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role within the energy sector or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of agile product development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Passion for innovation and a deep understanding of emerging technologies and trends in the energy sector.
  • Transformation experience in large organizations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of UX UI design principles and the ability to challenge technical stakeholders to align needs with business requirements.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics and familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Proficiency in agile working methodologies.

 

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary around £55,000 - £70,000 – dependent on capability

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
