Are you ready to lead projects that keep the lights on for millions while shaping the energy network of the future? We’re seeking a Lead Project Manager to manage a portfolio of substation projects across the London area, supporting a safe, reliable, and Net Zero-ready electricity network.
As a Lead Project Manager, you’ll oversee a range of projects (£100k–£10m) from supergrid transformers to control systems, battery infrastructure, and substation security. Leading a team of up to six Project Supervisors, you’ll manage contracting and design strategies, coordinate site activities, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. You’ll act as the key point of contact for your portfolio, collaborating with internal teams and other delivery vehicles to optimise outcomes and drive business improvements. Site travel will give you the chance to see your work in action with overnight stays as required.
You’re an experienced Project Manager with a track record of leading construction teams and complex portfolios. You combine technical expertise with strong leadership, commercial awareness, and excellent communication skills. You’re adaptable, solutions-focused, and motivated by delivering safe, high-quality outcomes that make a real difference. Requirements:
- Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification(s) and/or relevant experience in Project Management.
- Have managed a team of direct reports.
- A hands-on approach to project, stakeholder and contractor management.
- Knowledge of contract management specific to NEC suite of contracts.
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations. Familiar with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- HV Substations and/or Construction background. BP142 Authorisation.
Pay and Benefits
- A Salary of £72,431 to £90,070 pa including London Allowance + Contribution Pension total up to 18%.
- Company Car, Bonus, Paid overtime.
- 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday + 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
