About The Role

Due to an internal promotion and growth, we are seeking multiple Project Managers on our Bramford to Twinstead Reinforcement Project (BTNO)
BTNO is a major upgrade project involving nearly 30km of underground and overground new infrastructure, scheduled for completion by 2029
Your role will be to manage the project to time and budget, hitting key milestones along the way. You will use your proficiency to deliver and manage your projects as you see fit and the lessons learnt from your work will be shared across the wider business.
You’ll be joining an immediate team of 10 and a wider team of around 40.
This role is based 4 days per week at our Ipswich site which has free onsite parking.
If you live further away, overnight stays will be required for work continuity.
Travel and accommodation expenses will be met by National Grid.

- Can demonstrate experience in project management for complex, high-value 400/275kV overhead line (OHL) and cable projects.
- Possesses clear, concise, and open communication skills, contributing positively to team dynamics and fostering a supportive work environment.
- Can actively fulfil the client role in accordance with NEC4 contracts.
- Is capable of collaborating effectively with all stakeholders, both internal and external, as well as the principal contractor, to achieve programme milestones.
- Has strong technical engineering knowledge of cable systems and overhead lines (400/275kV).
- Is able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with diverse challenges. You’ll be resilient, driven, and proficient in prioritising and managing time effectively, especially when faced with unexpected situations.
- Exhibits strong teamwork skills and the ability to engage effectively with others. Makes decisions with a focus on the greater good, considering the impact on local communities and stakeholders
- Has experience in Development Consent Orders and/or local planning approvals to facilitate construction, is desirable but not essential,
- Is knowledgeable in the application of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
- Shows proficiency in the application and management of NEC contracts

What You'll Do
You will:
- Employ a robust risk management process.
- Manage the Principal Contractors within the client role function.
- Robustly manage the NEC4 contract, utilising support functions to ensure a safe, cost-effective, and on-programme project.
- Build and manage effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Use technical knowledge to ensure the project is delivered safely, to a high quality and efficiently.
- Chair and participate in contract and project meetings.
- Manage budgets, including monthly, yearly, and completion deadlines.
- Display visible safety leadership and set the tone for project safety, for example, by conducting site visits and providing timely feedback on improvements.
- Foster a collaborative environment with the supply chain, including principal contractors, service and plant suppliers, customers, landowners, local authorities, residents, and businesses.
Additionally, you will:
- Get the project back on track if it slows down, being mindful that any slippages will adversely affect the portfolio as a whole.
- Manage changes effectively, ensuring the project remains within governance frameworks.
- Deliver the project safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Utilise value engineering to reduce costs while remaining within the project scope.
- Foster an environment where everyone, regardless of seniority or background, feels empowered to share their concerns. As an organisation, we are driven by safety.
- Ensure visible and accessible communications are maintained throughout the life of the project, including safety charters and notifications of incidents and lessons learned. Share good practices and reinforce positive behaviours.
- Act with fairness and honesty in your communications. When things aren’t going to plan, share your learnings; when they are, celebrate your team’s successes.
- Mentor team members and support their ongoing professional development
What You'll Get
A competitive starting salary between £61,500 – £75,000 dependent on capability, plus an additional non-performance based £4500 annual supplement paid monthly. You'll also receive a brand new electric or hybrid car, selected from a wide list which is available for use for business and private use.
As well as your base salary and supplement, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
