About The Role

 

 

3 x Permanent Roles - Warwick / Hybrid - Full time 

 

The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding – together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.

As we build the projects that will make the energy transition happen, we’re looking for several individuals to join our teams and help us develop the business case for our projects. We are looking for 3 Business Case Leads to support on our projects across 2 different stage grade levels. Each Business Case Lead will typically support between 2-4 projects from our Strategic Infrastructure portfolio.

As Business Case Lead you will support in the assurance of the initial business cases for projects, integrating with project teams to ensure they are developing robust and well evidenced documents that justify infrastructure decisions. It is also expected that they will be developing the methods and applying a societal impact inclusive cost benefit analysis. They will be expected to provide expert advice to project teams for the development of full business cases.

You will also be supporting the Investment Case Manager in developing the business case framework and governance process.

 

This role is based at our Warwick office or London office and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

Leveraging this hybrid working, this team current work typically 1 day per week in the office, which is dependent on personal and business needs.

About You

  • Evidenced experience in developing / authoring business cases and leading the development of cost benefit analysis models to assess project delivery options and analyse results – experience with the HM Treasury Green Book guidance and five-case model.
  • Evidenced experience reviewing and quality assuring businesses cases to ensure a cohesive document that aligns with processes and procedures – aligning to HM Treasury Green Book principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability and confidence to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  •  The capability to gather and synthesise evidence to draw insights and make recommendations
  •  The ability to utilise spreadsheets and databases to interpret, manipulate and extract data from large data sets

Experience / knowledge of the energy sector is desirable but not essential, but what is essential is demonstrated experience in developing / writing / assuring business cases and cost-benefit analysis models for large infrastructure schemes, with an understanding of the principles of the HM Treasury Green Book and five case model.

What You'll Do

 

 

Core duties will include:

  • Assisting in the development of the initial business case for projects before handing it over to construction teams
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders (consenting, lands, external affairs, procurement and all construction project related teams) to collect relevant information for the development of robust business cases
  • Support the Investment/ Business Case Manager in quality assuring the business cases – reviewing against best practice guidance and ensuring the business case meets guidance requirements.
  • Completing the cost-benefit analysis for projects, where required, and co-ordinating with stakeholders to gather the data / information required
  • Support in evolving the cost-benefit analysis model including research and best practice in quantifying social, economic and environmental benefits
  • Providing guidance and support to internal teams on the development of the full business case for projects
  •  Developing methodologies to quantify how societal benefits can be included in our Cost Benefit Analysis to ultimately enhance the decision-making process for our projects
  • Engagement with digital teams to identify and use available technologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of project development.

Additionally, you’ll be invited to identify new digital improvements to aid decision making and data management, and may be required to represent the team in forums.

A competitive starting salary between £50,000 – £65,000 – dependent on capability.
